Silicon nitride (chemical formula Si3N4) is a monolithic ceramic form widely used in applications where strong thermal shocks or high thermal gradients occur, such as inside hydrogen / oxygen jet engines.
It is also used for its good resistance to oxidation, resistance to mechanical fatigue and high wear resistance.
